Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof Straight Rye is the sister Spirit to their Rare Breed Bourbon, and it could be even better. This Rye is one of the few that is not chill-filtered. It is a powerful, Cask Strength version of the signature Rye that they launched just over a year ago. That means it is built on a mash bill of 51% rye, 37% corn, and 12% malted barley. And do not let the lack of an age statement bother you here.
Like the other Rare Breed, it is a blend of various aged casks from their portfolio so there is plenty of older Spirit here to please. And at 56.1% ABV there will be plenty of pleasing goin' on.
TASTE
Sweet caramel and fruit at the start that gives way to a complex flavor of wood and rye spices
