Rey Campero Tepextate Mezcal
A premium mezcal made from wild Tepextate agave that has matured for 15-18 years before being harvested. The process includes roasting, crushing, open-air fermentation with wild yeast, double distillation, and bottling. Rey Campero is committed to sustainable production and for each maguey harvested, new plants are planted, which is especially important for the Tepextate agave due to its lengthy maturity period.
Rey Campero means “King of the Countryside.” It is an artisanal Mezcal that represents the culture, tradition, and art of Candelaria Yegolé, a small town in the Southern Highlands of Oaxaca, Mexico.
The brand is committed to helping maguey producers by creating job opportunities and finding markets for the best Mezcal. The brand was founded by the Mezcalero Romulo Sanchez Parada, who learned how to make Mezcal from his father and worked in the palenque.
