Acumen Mountainside Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

High atop Napa’s Atlas Peak, Acumen crafts distinct Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc from certified organic and sustainably farmed vines with a mineral core thanks to the volcanic soils of the mountain. Sitting above the fog line, sunshine can ripen fruit without experiencing excessive temperatures, ensuring that wines have structure and complexity, leaning towards an Old World style. For a broader appeal, Acumen’s Mountainside wines offer a higher production and, with the exception of the Sauvignon Blanc, are also 100 percent estate-driven.

TASTING NOTES 

2019 was quite similar to the “Winemaker’sDreamVintage” of 2018. Following winter rains that saturated the soils, the vines coming out of dormancy had ample water to ensure a healthy bud break. The growing season brought cooler-than-average temperatures through out spring and summer. These temperatures, combined with the absence of any notable heat events during berry formation, ensured ideal flavor development. As a result, our 2019 wines offer exceptional energy and depth, with beautifully articulated varietal flavors and a subtle underlying power that reflects their mountain origins.
